Our

is
Learner-Centered

Our Moonshot.
Transforming our campuses to empower all learners to achieve their unique potential.
Our Long Range Facilities Plan is a collaborative, year-long planning initiative to catalyze district action to modernize our schools and create opportunities to design innovative, vibrant learning environments.
Begun in October 2022, YCUSD launched an inclusive planning process to develop concrete actions the District can take in the Implementation Phase of this plan over the next ten years to meet our mission and vision.
Throughout the process, YCUSD collaborated with community leaders, educators, families, students, and built environment experts to develop actionable strategies the District will advance over the next ten years to build towards an equitable built environment.
Our Vision.
Equity
and
consistency
are
at
the
heart
of
our
Design
Guidelines.

The Long Range Facilities Plan aligns our Mission, Vision, Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) goals, and programs to advance and build equitable environments, create opportunities for local, community-led innovative learning opportunities for all students.
The recommendations included in the plan are:
- A consistent look and feel of YCUSD schools to support our vision for learning;
- reflective of an inclusive approach to planning grounded in the needs of YCUSD residents,
- prioritizing projects to achieve equity district-wide for all learners to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Our Approach.
Two phases to guide our campus transformations incrementally over time.

Our first phase focuses on reducing the overall number of portable classrooms districtwide through the construction of permanent classrooms. Other Phase One projects include improved circulation for student arrival and dismissal at particularly challenged sites as well as safety and security features districtwide. Also included is a Gym at Gray Avenue Middle School and a new Administration building at Lincoln Elementary School.
For Phase Two and as funding allows, schools will be modernized, and additional portables will be removed as feasible.
